Halloween always is bittersweet for me because I enjoy creating a costume, being with friends and enjoying the night. The flipside of that for this race fan is that Halloween is the date of Greg Moore’s death at Fontana in 1999.

For those of you who might not know who Greg was, you should check out some YouTube vids of his races in CART. I can tell you he was a driver with such world beating potential all of the top drivers in CART knew he was already a force to be reckoned with. Roger Penske signed him for the 2000 racing season. He was even getting serious looks from Mercedes-Benz director, Norbert Haug to get him into F1 by the early 2000’s. But, what’s more is that he was one of the most genuine, down to Earth people one could ever meet in the paddock or on the street. The RACER Magazine article tells it best by those who knew him. I wish I could have met him. What are your memories of Greg?
