“Untouchable Mario Andretti” is the only way to describe his first victory of the 1987 PPG Indycar Series season. This was a pretty special day for the Newman-Haas squad. It was the first Indycar Series victory for the new Chevrolet-Ilmor V8 powerplant. Mario lead all 95 laps. He was truly “Untouchable” that Sunday in April 1987. As seen on Petrolicious and Spiegel.de for the RRDC “Evening with Mario Andretti” Dinner at Long Beach in 2014.
